Family Medicine

Services available at Family Health Centers' offices include physical examinations, medical diagnosis and treatment, adult and children immunizations, minor surgeries, and electrocardiograms (EKGs). We also provide screening, treatment planning and referrals for cancer, diabetes, hypertension, general medical conditions and communicable diseases.
Family Health Centers Pediatrics
The fastest growing segment of our patient population includes children under the age of 16. In order to ensure a healthy start for these boys and girls, we provide well baby/well child visits, school immunizations, general medical treatment, school and sports physicals, same-day sick child exams and treatment at our Bonita Springs, Downtown Fort Myers, and Labelle offices.

Women's Health Servicesback to top
As Lee County's top deliverer of babies, Family Health Centers provides a variety of services geared to the special healthcare needs of women, including maternity care and hospital delivery, gynecology, pap smears, colposcopy, amniocentesis, minor surgery, preconception planning and nutritional guidance.

Our obstetricians/gynecologists, certified nurse midwives and advanced registered nurse practitioners also routinely call upon local physicians who specialize in high-risk pregnancies. Screening services for the early detection of breast and cervical cancers are provided onsite, with follow-up testing by referral. Routine gynecological examinations and treatment are also completed onsite.

Laboratory and X-rays
Family Health Centers provides basic diagnostic services for all blood samples and urine specimens. More complex testing is performed by an outside local laboratory. We offer basic x-ray services through an outside provider.

Oral health is an essential component of well-being, so Family Health Centers provides examinations, emergency care, teeth extractions, fillings, cleaning, fluoride treatments, sealants, restorations and root canals. We also are actively involved in a school-based oral health program aimed at detecting early childhood dental problems through routine screenings. Currently, Family Health Centers offers dental services from our Downtown Dental Office, Broadway Family Dental Office, Charlotte County Medical and Dental Office, Bonita Springs Medical and Dental Office, Pine Island Medical and Dental Office, and LaBelle Medical and Dental Office.
Medical Social Services
Many patients need more than medical or dental care. Family Health Centers offers a variety of in-house medical social services, providing resources and referral assistance, or just obtaining the necessary help to overcome a difficult situation. We also partner with other local organizations for treatment of mental illness as well as for treatment/counseling referrals.

These groups include, but are not limited to, the Lee County Health Department, the Lee County Department of Human Services, the Salvation Army, United Way, Lee We Care, Ruth Cooper Center, Life Education and Counseling Center and Southwest Florida Addiction Services (SWFAS). Florida Gulf Coast University master in social work students perform field placement at Family Health Centers. Each provide an array of social services that enhance the comprehensive healthcare assistance we provide.

Disease Management
Family Health Centers helps patients suffering from a variety of chronic diseases such as type II diabetes, high blood presure, and heart disease to improve their health care outcomes. We offer our patients self-care tools to manage their condition and offer bilingual classes on disease management topics.

As part of Family Health Centers' overall commitment to improving the health of the people of Southwest Florida, we work closely with a variety of community organizations. These groups provide an array of medical, dental and medical social services that enhance the comprehensive healthcare services we provide. Active healthcare outreach programs include:
  • Chronic disease management program
  • Healthcare for the Homeless program
  • Healthy Body/Healthy Soul faith-based program
  • Planting Seeds prenatal nutrition program for migrant farm worker women
Pharmacy
The majority of prescriptions are filled by us at our Grand Avenue downtown pharmacy. We also work with neighborhood pharmacies throughout Southwest Florida for the convenience of our patients.
Healthcare Technology
Family Health Centers is a leader in the use of state-of-the-art healthcare technology. Utilizing these innovations, such as electronic health and dental records, assists us in enhancing the quality of care received by our patients.

  • We have strategically located medical and dental offices throughout Southwest Florida.
  • Many of our physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, dental hygienists and other staff members are fluent in several languages, including English, Spanish and Creole. Please ask if you require this service.
  • Walk-in care is available to both new and established patients, as scheduling permits.
  • Patient information can be obtained by our staff at any of our 12 medical and 6 dental offices through a state-of-the-art integrated electronic record system.
